The Emerton Court Tournament
is a long established Devon County event. Five pairs represent each
club on a home and away basis with the winning team accumulating the
highest number of points. Torquay won the trophy for the one and
only time in 2007 and are keen to repeat this success with a team of
considerable experience under the captaincy of Michael Goodrich.
ELFORDLEIGH - AWAY: The Seniors Emerton Court team achieved a
creditable halved match in their away fixture against Elfordleigh
and followed this by winning at home giving them victory by seven
matches to three. The next round is likely to be against either
Exeter or Thurlestone both of whom will be tough opponents. However,
Michael Goodrich and his team are in good form and look forward
making further progress in this prestigious competition.
HONITON - HOME:
The Seniors Emerton Court team - captained by Michael Goodrich, opened
the 2010 campaign with a home match against Honiton on 15 April and
recorded a four match to one victory. The margin, though
satisfactory, will be needed for the second match to played at
Honiton shortly in what is sure to be a closely contested affair.
HONITON - AWAY: The Emerton Court team travelled to Honiton
on Thursday 29 April for the return fixture and recorded a three
match to two victory. The overall result, seven wins for and three
against, is rewarded with a match against Elfordleigh or Hatherleigh.
