Who's Who?

Club Captain

It is a real honour to be Torquay GC Club Captain for 2023/24.

My love of golf goes back to when I was a child and living close to the course (just behind the old 1st green). Hearing the shout of ‘fore’ from our home, I was hooked from a young age and golf soon became a big part of my early life and beyond.

The club is a very welcoming with friendly staff and great Clubhouse facilities so please ensure you visit our restaurant and bar after your golfing experience. Myself and Vice Captain, Mark Bell play most Thursdays. You’re welcome to join us!

Golf is a game for everyone, for enjoyment, for health, for life so come along and experience Torquay Golf Club I am sure you will not be disappointed.

Best wishes and Happy Golfing

Philip Bragg - Club Captain

Ladies Captain

I am immensely proud to be Ladies Captain 2023-2024, having been a member of Torquay Golf Club for over 35 years.

I started as a complete beginner taking lessons and, when ready, gaining a handicap, entering competitions and the challenges of mixed golf with my husband! Gradually my handicap reduced and my confidence grew. Some years I did not play too much due to work commitments but I am so pleased that I persevered with the game. With slightly more time on my hands now, I enjoy social golf and both the friendly and interclub competitions within the county.

About our Lady members:

We have an enthusiastic and friendly ladies’ membership who are happy to support new golfers and integrate experienced golfers into the club. Our ladies have raised significant funds for various charities over the years as well as funding course enhancements such as daffodil banks and specialist trees to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee. We support the whole club with special events such as volunteering for our prestigious Pro-Am competition. We also take the responsibility to decorate the club at Christmas to ensure that Father Christmas will be there for the family Christmas lunch.

We welcome prospective and new members, from beginners to experienced players. There is a busy well supported program of social events throughout the year time and many opportunities to enjoy and the excellent catering facilities. Please check the website and noticeboards as these events are extremely popular and fill up fast.

As a new Lady member, you will be assigned a named lady member who will be happy to be a support you during the early stages of your membership.

I look forward to meeting you in the year.

Sue Arnold – Ladies Captain
