Ladies Captain

It is such an honour and privilege to be Ladies Captain 2024-2025 as I follow proudly in my mother’s footsteps who was last year’s Ladies Captain. I joined the club back in 1990, playing as a junior along with my parents and grandfather. I played throughout my junior years and then returned to golf after attending University, it is so refreshing to see young juniors here playing at all levels and seeing our older juniors return as young adults. The club has a real community feel and there is always a warm welcome to greet you. If you have not attended one of our Social Nights, you are missing out.

Golf is suitable for all abilities and ages; we have excellent coaching packages for juniors and adults from group lessons to individual lessons and studio lessons where you could play some great courses virtually such as Sawgrass and Pebble Beach. When you join as a member you will receive a free 30 minute consultation voucher with one of our dedicated Pro’s they are here to help you develop the game that you will love and enjoy and introduce you to other members of a similar ability.

You may see quite a bit of me as I work at the Golf Club. My role is Golf and Retail Co-ordinator so I look after membership and the clothing range in the shop.

About our Lady members:

We have an enthusiastic and friendly ladies’ membership who are happy to support new golfers and integrate experienced golfers into the club. Our ladies have raised significant funds for various charities over the years as well as funding course enhancements such as daffodil banks and specialist trees to celebrate last year’s Platinum Jubilee. We support the whole club with special events such as volunteering for our prestigious Pro-Am competition. We also take the responsibility to decorate the club at Christmas to ensure that Father Christmas will be there for the family Christmas lunch.

We welcome prospective and new members, from beginners to experienced players. There is a busy well supported program of social events throughout the year time and many opportunities to enjoy and the excellent catering facilities. Please check the website and noticeboards as these events are extremely popular and fill up fast.

As a new Lady member, you will be assigned a named lady member who will be happy to be a support you during the early stages of your membership.

I look forward to meeting you in the year.

Laura Colman – Ladies Captain
